Northern Gardens Explore Their Creative Side with Flowers

We all love fresh flowers, they bring much joy to a room and the benefits are endless. Flowers have proven to have a positive impact upon states of mind by providing a beautiful display and attractive smell, thus inducing positive thoughts. The benefits to individuals through flower therapy are directly related to our senses through colour and smell.

Each week our residents take part in flower arranging, and last week they outdid themselves. Using a mix of beautiful and colourful flowers our residents put their skills to the test to deliver outstanding flower arrangements for Northern Gardens

We can’t wait to see the eye-catching displays our residents make next week!

Sorrento Lodge’s Skipping Girl Vinegar Celebrates Her 95th Birthday

Sorrentos Victorian Icon

For eight decades the Skipping Girl Vinegar sign has delighted children and adults alike with the neon sign lighting up the streets of Melbourne.

Our very own Irene Barron who recently celebrated her 94th Birthday with family and friends at Sorrento Lodge was the model for the iconic street sign at the tender age of 14. Irene recalls skipping for hours to help the designers work out how the famous neon rope should move.

” I would get the train home every night and see the flashing sign and look up and think  Wow that’s me” Mrs Baron said.
