At Northern Gardens this popular program delivers social and community benefits to residents, families and the facility as a whole. Overall, the residents and children benefit through increased enjoyment and intergenerational interactions. Our residents often reflect and reminiscence of childhood and parenting.

Medical & Aged Care Group Raise Money for Cancer Council

Pop on the kettle, put the scones in the oven and come together, was this years theme at all MACG’s residences. In aged care we see firsthand the impact cancer has on people’s lives. Not just those of our residents, but their friends and families too. Medical & Aged Care Group are proud to have been an Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea supporter every year raising thousands of dollars in support of the Cancer Council.

Casey Manor’s Ongoing Support For The Salvation Army

Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal

Smiling faces greeted everyone as they walked through the local shopping Centre in Narre Warren South last week. Dawn and Margaret were part of a team helping to collect for this year’s Red Shield Appeal. Both ladies thanked everyone for their generous donations as they stopped to have a chat and spoke about how necessary continued support is for the disadvantaged living in our community.

The team of 16 residents who live at Casey Manor managed to raise a record amount by collecting in the morning and afternoon from Monday 23rd-Friday 27th May 2016. This is the 7th year our residents have helped this worthy cause.

Staff are Pretty In Pink Residents enjoyed entertainment on the day

Residents with their Families enjoyed a Pretty In Pink themed High Tea to celebrate Mothers Day this year at Casey Manor. In anticipation of this special day, the Lifestyle Program focused on “Mothers.” Fond memories were shared within the group, reminiscing on songs, food, and how the residents developed their style of motherhood. Thank you to all staff who dressed in pink, including our chef, for making Mothers’ Day celebrations such a special occasion for our residents and families.

Fun in the sun at Parkdale

Lucky enough to have the beach at their doorstep; Denise and Helen from Parkdale Aged Care enjoyed an afternoon at the Parkdale beach café. As they sat and watched the waves roll in, Helen shared her many fond memories of summers spent with family and friends. Visits to the beach are a regular outing for our residents living at Parkdale.

Family days always a time for celebration

Celebrations and events are held throughout the year in addition to the lifestyle programs offered at all MACG homes; maintaining a community connection is vital to the wellbeing of everyone. We actively encourage the involvement of family, friends and the broader community at all BBQ days with Casey Aged Care, Parkdale Aged Care and Northern Gardens Aged Care recently hosting wonderful events.

MACG Staff walk for the ‘Race against Dementia’ January 2016

Medical & Aged Care Group staff were excited to participate in the Alzheimer’s Australia Memory Walk & Jog held recently at the Mornington Peninsula’s Point Nepean. With the sun shining, Rebecca our Lifestyle coordinator from Sorrento Lodge came an impressive first in the 7km run. All funds raised increase Alzheimer’s Australia’s ability to provide vital support services to reduce the feelings of isolation and empower people living with dementia and those caring for them.

Smiles all round for kids at heart

Recently Casey Aged Care located in Narre Warren featured in the Casey Cardinia kid’s magazine highlighting the positive benefits that the fortnightly visits at Kings Kids childcare centre has had on our residents and the children.

These visits have been extremely popular and Medical & Aged Care Group are looking at expanding the program across all of their homes.
